The name H&R Block is familiar all over the world. Opening as a small bookkeeping company in Kansas City, Missouri in 1946, the business struggled until Henry Bloch landed a bookkeeping assignment for a small hamburger stand and business took off. Soon Henry's brother, Richard, joined him in the business. In 1955 a client suggested the brothers advertise tax preparation services which proved to be extremely successful. After realizing the difficulty customers were having pronouncing and spelling their name, the brothers incorporated and renamed their business H&R Block, Inc.

H&R Block came to Chelsea in January, 2007 when Teresa Hayes opened her franchise between State Farm Insurance and Sherwin-Williams Paint on Highway 280.

H&R Block in Chelsea is a year-round operation offering tax preparation, business services, payroll, and advice. Their Tax Professionals go through extensive training each year to stay well informed with the ever-changing tax laws.
